Where is the leak? Is it leaking around the edge of the timing cover, meaning the timing cover seal is leaking, or is it the crankshaft seal, where the crankshaft comes through the timing cover? If the timing cover seal itself is bad, you're going to have to remove the whole timing cover, and you might as well replace the tensioner and guides and chain (and water pump) while you're in there. As spec240 said, if it's just the crank seal, that's relatively easy to replace and doesn't involve removing the cover.
