I usually don't have a very greasy engine bay. I keep up with it, so there's never really any problem.

Before a show, I'll usually blow out all the excess sand/dirt with compressed air or such, any greasy or dirty parts like the resovoirs get scrubbed with your common household de-greaser, dirty painted/powdercoated objects get wiped down with car wash wipes, and I finish off all rubber and plastic with Armor-All wipes for that shiny look. The Armor all doesn't last very long, but it keeps it shiny for the show.
