We all take Electronic Fuel Injection for granted, but have you ever seen the first car to have it? Most people think the 1957 Chevy's 283 hp 283 was the first fuel injected production car, but it wasn't. The first MECHANICAL fuel injection installed by a factory was the 1955 Mercedes Benz "Gullwing". Many people believe the first domestic car to have it was the 1975 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega. It was the first car produced in the US with an EFI and DOHC engine, but not the world's first, or even the first domestic car to have it . The first cars in the world with EFI were a few select models of Chrysler products in-ready for this-1958!!!!! (I just learned about it while looking through the magazine rack at Wal Mart at 3am.)I found a link about it and figured I would share this with whomever is interested in such a unique piece of history. Enjoy!!!!
