Those guys love to use Armour All...which is the worse thing you can possibly use... it turns everything black into a dull brown after a short time.. nasty.

Unfortunatly there is no easy way to have a clean engine bay other than getting in there and getting dirty.

I usually cover all the electronics with plastic bags with rags inside them for added protection. Then hit it with the lower pressure at the drive in car wash.. usually the spot free selection, two reasons.. less pressure and soft water. Then take soft brushes and scrub everything you can reach.. hit it again with the water... wipe everything down.

One product I really like is CD2 Engine Detailer, I usually hit it with about a half a can afterwards...

Then wipe everything down once again.. let dry... then clean all the silicone hoses with alcohol swabs.. then hit my polished metal parts with polish..

To have an nice engine bay it takes just as much time or more than the normal exterior.
