First things first. A full tune up including, plugs, wires, O2 sensor, cap and rotor, vacuum lines will put you on the right track. Then the usual upgrades are things like exhaust and intake to let the car breathe better, nice for the turbo. You can then start messing with your boost levels. The bottom end of that motor is typically very strong so you can support some solid power with having to do a lot of engine work.
