Scanning for codes
No the dealership isn't required for you to check the codes all you have to do is find your computer mine is underneath my pasenger side seat (which I remove for easy access).after wraming up the engine turn it off and turn the key to the on position and find the little hole on the side of the computer its the diagnostic mode selector theres a little bolt inside with a notch for a flat head turn that fully clockwise and after at least two seconds turn the selector fully counter clockwise count the number of red flashes and the number of green flashes before is pauses and then repeats the code . besure to write down the number of red flashes followed by the number of green code 55 is not fault code detected (in the haynes manual but I think on mine code 44 is the everything is ok code). search on here and you will find the trouble code chart. I really don't wanna be a type R BTW a haynes manual is the best book for your buck when it comes to fixing your own rig.
