Well, I did a little research too, just because I was curious. The above stats on the Jetta are correct, 115 hp and 122 ft-lbs torque and I found that the stock GLS 2.0L is rated for a 10.1 second 0-60 mph time. I don't know if that is for the manual transmission, however.

Assuming curb weight measurements for both cars, the Jetta is 383 lbs heavier, to be exact (I'm not trying to be rude Sentragxe97, just doing some math...). However, the power to weight ratio all depends upon what each of your mods do for you. So, assuming that your car is the curb weight with 100 horsepower getting to the wheels, your PTW (power to weight) ratio is .043 hp/lb. If he gets 125 hp to his wheels, his PTW ratio is .046 - but that is assuming a far too efficent transfer of power on the Jetta. More realistically you're getting around 95 hp to the ground with a PTW ratio of .0405 hp/lb. Even if he's getting 15 more hp with his mods (130 hp at flywheel) with an expected loss of 20 hp when measured at the wheels (compared to the flywheel, if the car is very stock) his PTW ratio would then be .0403 hp/lb, giving you the PTW "edge" of .0002 hp/lb!

So, it really comes down to two factors (among others). How much extra grunt is created by his mods? How much horsepower is lost from the flywheel to the wheels on the Jetta? Obviously the curb weights will be low, but if both cars are analyzed low, then the ratios will still be good for comparison's sake. Oh, another important factor - driver ability. It sounds like this one could come down to a "quick shifting" contest. Good luck.
