doesn't fit at all, or just spins? If it just spins, put some blue loctite on the clean threads, and remember to use penetraitin' fluid when taking it out next time. so mark it.

If it doesn't fit at all, get a couple of the same sized bolts and lower to make it fit (auto parts stores carry a wise selection, as well as a nice amount of sample bolts they'd let you borrow, and if you bring the bolt in, they'll look up the threads, being metric or not, and the correct sze down.. I used to work at one of these stores, so... ), once again, close with loctite..

the last option, is to tap the thread out to the correct size if its too small. Too big, and you'd either go one size higet, or a lotta loctite. =)

Hope that helps,
peace
