I blame the anti-asbestos crowd. Sweet, sweet asbestos. Tons of wear. No dust. Lots of stopping power. Oh yeah and some carcinogenic dust....
Now we're left with a multitude of choices. The purists will always go with the matched OEM pad, rotor, combos. But just remember, the manufacturer has an agenda too. Stopping power versus wear versus noise versus dust. Nothing says you can't reprioritize how your brakes are set up and opt for more noise and less dust, while maintaining the stopping power. Just shop wisely.
