Picked the truck up from Performance Nissan. The service shop there is really top notch.
For the overhead console, they packed it full of sound insulation material. The thought process is this. First, there's only so much you can do to tighten up a clip. Second, the added material will put some tension on the clips to try and keep it taut. Third, the extra material should help deaden the noise.
They also took a look at two other problems. The front rotors were slightly warped. The truck has 10k on it and this was a bit of a surprise to me. I'll have to keep a close eye on their wear and tear this summer.
Also, the seat back on the passenger front seat was loose. Fixed no problem.
Tomorrow morning will be the true test of the overhead console - when the plastic is cold and the squeaks and rattles have been the worst.
