If you're having cruise problems look here

Hello guys. Thought i'd post this strictly for informational purposes. My '95 200sx Se was having cruise control problems. Many times, it would just kick off and the "cruise" light would start blinking, and then it would be impossible to set. It pretty much worked when it wanted to. After getting a code for "vehicle speed sensor circuit open", I replaced the sensor all to no avail. Then, I replaced the ASCD computer and the cruise still didn't work.
Finally, I decided to take a look at the back of the instrument cluster (where the vehicle speed sensor signal goes in and out). There is a printed circuit board on the back of the cluster, with several brass screws (four screws look silver and appear to be stainless) holding the printed circuit board to the back of the cluster. Take all of these screws out, and clean the printed circuit board (where the screws contact it) with a pencil eraser. Also, clean all the printed circuit board where the connectors plug into the cluster. I don't really know if the cleaning of the contacts fixed my cruise, or the tightening of the brass screws fixed my problem (some of them were a little loose), but either way, my cruise now works perfectly. So, if you're having the same symptoms that I had, this might be worth looking into.
