Surf Fishing?

Just curious if anyone surf fishes and uses their Frontier as a buggy. I am gonna head over to Island Beach State Park this weekend and register it for the year. What modifications or racks do you have done?

I don't, but I've done some 4wheeling in soft sand. Other than the obvious rack of PVC pipe rod holders in the front, I'd recommend some sort of self recovery device. I'm fond of a hand winch/come-along. They're small, powerfull, relatively light weight, and available for arround $50. The biggest problem with the beach is that there's usually not much to hook yourself up to if you do get stuck. I've had do find some steel rebar and drive it deep into the ground (vertically) to have something to winch to. I've also seen, but never used, several anchor looking devices that dig themselves into the dirt/sand as you pull on them. the adds say they work great, but then again, they're selling it too.

Sorry, but that's about all I've got.
Good luck
Johnny

i haven't gone fishing yet, but i've gone on the beach in LBI with my xterra (i have a buggy permit for ship bottom). it did pretty well - almost got stuck but i still had the tires aired up at 35psi. i would recommend an air compressor to be able to air down to like 15psi and then air back up. other things i usually have are a folding camping shovel, a thick and wide piece of wood to put under the jack if it's needed. i also have a manual hand winch put still have to get one of those anchor things to dig into the ground with.
