Question Newbie needs help shopping

I'm looking at buying my first Nissan 4X4. I was wondering what to lookout for, such as week points or problems on these trucks and between the 2 motors (4cyl / 6 cyl) which seems to last longer? I usually drive between 12-1500 miles every 2 weeks for work. I need something that will last a little while and not brake me in repairs. I'm currently looking at 3 trucks:

'97 XE 4x4 4 cyl 5 speed. Has broken speedo (shows 85K) and could use a tune up. Looks to be in good shape from the pics, no rust $3K.

'95 Xtracab 4x4 6 cyl 5 speed 126K miles. No rust $2500 obo * I like the extra room, but was worried about dependability, because of the V6*

'94 4x4 4 cyl 5 speed 3" body lift 33x12.50 (new) tires w/ 15x10 black steelies. No rust, few dents and dings 160K miles $2500

Thanks, Jason

As with any used vehicle and how long it lasts depends on the previous owner/s and how well they took care of it. Ask if they have records of maintenance and repairs. 4 cyls will have better gas mileage, 6 will have more power. both engines are very reliable, but maintenance wise the 4 cyl will be cheaper in the long run. the main thing to remember is how is the vehicle going to be used, is comfort or room willing to be sacrificed, choices like that are what you need to look at. have the vehicles looked at by a certified technician for any unseen problems, look at body lines for accidents or use Carfax. do the homework and you will be a lot happier with the vehicle you choose.
