my tranny went out. 4th gear is all i can get, are my synchronizers gone or what? the clutch is a year old and was not slipping, but when i ley out on clutch i would sometimes hear the throwout bearing whirring. its a 97' pickup xe 4 banger. any input would be appreciated, thanks.

check the shifter tower, not sure if you will be able to access from inside the cab or not, but it sounds like one of pins came out it, provided it was working normally up to this point.
