Unhappy need some help.....bad

buried my pathfinder this past weekend in about 2 ft of mud....i know i know. trying to get out i was on the accelerator as hard as it would go rocking back and forth when the engine bogged down and died. After we got it out, i could not get it started so i pulled the plugs, no water or mud in the engine. Afterwards I checked to see if i could get a spark, no spark. Put a new distributor cap, button, coil, plugs and wires....still no spark. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I thinking maybe the crank sensor, but i have no idea where this would be, I have also thought about the ECM but dont know about that one either. Im sure the ECM got a lil wet but not drenched but I may be wrong. Havent had any prior problems w/ the engine.....Thx

did you get water inside the cab? i think thats where the ECM is. it does sound like the cranksensor. usually on the front of the engine behind the balancer possibly on the side of the block.

My recommendation is to spend about $10.00 at the local quarter car wash. use at least half of the time on the motor and drivetrain. Drive it up onto some ramps if you've got them and wash the hell out of the undercarriage and the dark side of the motor and tranny and anything else you can reach. Then let it dry out of a while. then start fixing. Garden hose will work too, but use a good nozzle to spray it.
Good Luck.

yeah, i got probably 8-10 inches of mud and water on the passenger side of the interior. the drivers side of the truck remained rather dry. i am going to tear the inside apart this afternoon and get it clean, and hopefully discover that the ECM remained dry. thanks, if you have any further info on where the crank sensor is that woudl be very helpful, pics or a diagram would be great. thanks for your help

sinking the truck in mud and water there is a good chance the connectors got corroded. it would be a good idea to check several you knew that were in the water. i think the ECM is under the pass. seat and the BCM is under the drivers. it is also possible for one of them to be in the pass. frt kick panel.

You may not see any damage but remember electronics are not meant to get wet even a little. look into a replacement but before replacing check connectors to make sure they are dry so the next one isn't ruined.

Talking

Phew......well i have it runnin again, found a new ECM in a junkyard for 65 bucks, I dont think that I could have been any luckier, apparently after the computer malfunctioned the fuel injectors remained open. After i got the new ECM in i went to plugs, wires, etc. etc. and found that the case was full of gas, took prolly 25-30 mins of turning over before they finally flushed out. It took alot of effort trying to get it started but we are bac up and running. Thanks for your helps guys.
