Question Switching to 4H and 4L

just picked up an 05 Frontier CC SE 4x4 5SP Automatic. consequently, this is my first 4x4. i read the manual a bit but not too in depth. i have few quick questions i thought i might ask those with more experience.

Can I switch to 4H on the fly or do i have to go to a complete stop, place the tranny in neutral then switch to 4H?

If i can shift on the fly, at what speed would doing so be detrimental to the transfer case?

Is there a max speed limit while in 4H?

I ask because i assume it is necessary to be at a complete stop and in neutral to switch into 4L...

Thoughts? Tips? Tricks?

The manual or some document states you can shift from 2wd to 4wd HI at speeds below 60mph. And to be realistic if you are going any faster and need 4x4 instantly you are already in trouble.

you are correct about 4x4 Low, you need to be stopped, in nuetral with a foot on the brake. TOP speed in 4low is i believe 31 mph but i wouldnt recommend trying it.

Also dont drive on dry pavement in 4hi or 4 low.
