so, my mechanic was telling me that mud and metal don't go together. in other words, the four wheeling i have been doing has put premature wear on my brakes and calipers and caused them to mess up. not the only reason they messed up (they were failry old), but it was a major factor. what do you guys do to help keep the wear off your brakes after wheeling? Do you power wash your brakes, do you try to stay out of the deep mud that cakes onto the brakes..what!?

pressure washing the brakes couldn't hurt. try making a brake dust shield. it may work to keep mud and shit off your rotors, and help shield the calipers. just cut a piece of metal to fit inside the wheel, blocking the spoke holes, and cut out hub and lug holes. i don't know what it will to to brake cooling, if anything. lincoln town cars, as well as other high end cars come with them stock. i guess rich people are too lazy to wash their wheels like normal people.
Just wash 'em off after wheeling. I've had the same brake pads on the front for three years now, I think your mechanic is exaggerating.
