So no, it isn't true motorsport, and I don't like it, but I can't condemn people for going out and having fun doing it. Not my cup of tea, but whatever floats your boat.
It's definatley not race, but I can't say that it's totally rice either. Sure, there are the fan boys who come out because it's the latest fad, buying up "Haichi Rokus" and driving the market, but I'm sure in a few years the trend will pass and we'll be left with a core group of people who enjoy this and have no illusions and misconceptions about it.

My hope is that they graduate into real road racing. Road racing in america sucks and it needs fresh blood.
