advancing the timing is kinda scarey to do if you've never done anything like this before but it's really simple. i would wait untill you've ran all that 87 octane piss water out of your tank before you do the timing. if you advance it too far your engine will ping/knock, and you'll know it's knocking cuz it won't sound like an engine should sound. just set your timing to 15 and call it good.

bring your timing gun and some tools, there'll be LOTS of people that would gladly help you since it takes about 5 minutes.
