1997 pulley tensioner
i had to replace one of my serpentine belts, and have come across an interesting situation. the bolt used as a tensioner on the power steering pulley is missing. i was able to just move the pulley loose by hand. i thought that i was missing the bolt but then:
1) fsm has no accounting for this bolt......i have checked every diagram involving the power steering and drive belts, but no bolt anywhere....
2) friend's '95 sentra is also missin this same bolt. made me think it doesnt exist, but a mechanic told her that she's missing a bolt on her p.s. pulley (sadly, she's car illiterate, and cant remember his specifics).
the pulley has a braket attached to it, with a hole on a surface perpendicular and behind the pulley, in which the bolt should go thru......
im sure this might be confusing unless one has become very comfortable with that region of the engine bay.....basically, im asking whether or not my "ghost" tension bolt exists...im sure it does, but i can't find it anywhere......
