good to hear you got your car back in running order.
perhaps the thermostat is a low temp one, but the temp/fuel gauges in the B12 aren't really well known for their accuracy ethier so it could just be the gauge. But if the engine gets cooled down to the point that you start to loose power or drivability, then it's definitely not the gauge. I believe that different water to coolant ratios affect the efficiency of the radiator also, but i'm not exactly sure. Maybe someone else knows.
