They way i did mine was like this.It was low on pressure so I had to kick the compressor on manually.Your compressor needs to been running when you charge your system, Take the plug (the one with a little yellow wire that runs in to it)off the compressor and turn the car on. Next hit your compressor with 12 volts. You should hear the compressor click even with the car off.

Before you do this have some boiling water handing when you start to charge the system put the can in the hot water. It makes the can hot and will flow much better.

Other than that I don't know what to tell you other than you mught be hooking up to the high pressure side.
