Yeah Nissan built a B12 with a CA18DE engine. We have quite a couple on our roads. They came decked out with alloy wheels, leather seats, aircon, disk brakes all round, hydraulic clutch, full house. In South Africa it was not called a Sentra at all but simply a 1.8 16v Twincam.
They were sold between 1988 and 1992 with slight cosmetic changes. The later models had turn signals incorporated in the front corner lights (parks). Thet also had redesigned rear light clusters (more rounded design)
They came in both coupe and box shape. These cars at one stage were termed the most powerfull four cylinders on our roads with a reputed 100kw (135hp) on tap in standard form.
Today they sell for anyhting between 15k - 30k ZAR ($1500-$3000) and good ones are still to be found.
I am getting one as soon as the E engined coupe I own now stops entertaining me
