Question Adding a turbo to a NA 1983ZX

Is it possible or recommended to add a turbo out of a 1982 ZXT (i.e. turbo/manifold/ecu/harness/distributor/fuel pump) to a NA 1983ZX?

How would it perform in comparison to a regular 1983ZXT?

Higher compression on the NA motor, you'll get knock sooner. Possibly create problems with either the head gaskets or the pistons. I might recommend the addition of an intercooler to combat this. Or not run much more than stock boost, but I'm sure you're not trying to make just stock power.....

Thank you

I will stick with my NA since it works well and I don't want to damage it

DarkZebra,

If you want to go turbo with your car, find an L28ET from an 81-83 ZX turbo. You will have to change the harness and ecu but those and the engine/tranny itself are all bolt in (since you also have a ZX with the same chassis). And you could probably do that swap for cheaper than you could trying to turbo your N/A engine.

Thank you.

I may just try that in the new year.
