Before i replaced my stock plastic intake pipe with the weapon-r aluminum pipe, i removed the resonator that sits under the stock pipe and plugged the hole with a cap from a bottle of mobil 1 oil. All this does is make your intake sound a bit meaner, it will not affect your emissions. So go for it, or better yet replace your stock pipe like i did. I felt a nice power increase in mid-high rpms and much better throttle response. Search ebay under sentra there's a guy who sells aluminum mid-pipes for like $37...
