Friggen' rock and getting lucky....
I am so pissed!!! Yesterday on the way home from work I am cruising up 2222 behind a big 4x4 newer Chevy pickup when the truck clipped a huge friggen rock that was laying in the road. I say huge because this damn thing was bigger than a softball, and the truck shot the rock straight back at my car!! This is the lucky part because the truck could have easily kicked up the rock into the air and onto my hood or threw my windshield. Now, of all of the places this damn rock could have went, it just had to come flying back in one of the crappiest spots!! The damn thing came flying back straight into the top of my exhaust and
ROLLED
down my exhaust to my cat, bounced and rolled down the back of the car / exhaust a little more, and then finally clipped the passenger side of the exhaust pipe between the "Y" and the muffler and went flying into the air like a bouncing ball. I caught the rock flying high (I couldn't see just how high cause I lost sight) into the air out of my rear view mirror. I don't think it hit anyone else cause I did not hear anything after that, but there were cars around me and some were fairly close. When I got home I jacked the car up and took a look. I can officially say that the new exhaust parts are 100 times better quality than what Nissan uses!! The only thing that happen to any of the new exhaust piping were small nicks where the rock hit the pipe. Too bad it did not punch a hole in my cat!! It came close though! Do I need to worry about the torn mesh that you can see in a couple of the close up pics??
