OK, but doesn't anyone make a device that can be hooked up instead of the Consult II to be able to accomplish the same thing?

Q: How do I advance the timing of my QR25?
Sarah: The QR25 and QG18 have direct ignition systems instead of a distributor. Distributorless ignitions use a coil for each spark plug which improves efficiency and emissions and increases power by controlling the timing of the spark. Unlike distributor ignitions where timing can be advanced or retarded by disconnecting the TPS and adjusting the distributor, the only way to advance the timing of a direct ignition system is through the Nissan diagnostic Consult II device, which communicates directly with the ECU.
