Question Problem changing headlamps

I bought an '83 280zx Turbo off a guy a few blocks from my house and fell in love with it. Unfortunately, it's in pretty bad shape (body rust everywhere, thanks to being a Florida car). I've never been a gear head, but I'm a pretty quick learner, and done enough Mechanical engineering getting my aerospace degree to do basic work myself. I've handled a clutch issue (replaced the master/slave cylinders), an ebrake issue (wasn't engaging, just needed tightening on the cable), leaky seals, and a few other issues, but I am stumped by the headlights.

How do you remove/replace them? I bought the car with crappy aftermarket covers, which when I unbolted, revealed two adjustment screws. I can see two smaller screws that look like they hold a metal ring in place, but they're covered by the body. I tried to take the entire assembly off, but after removing the bolts that attach it to the frame, it looks like it's still held on by the front fender (quarter panel?). I can't find anything else to loosen. Am I really going to have to take the entire side of the car off just to change to some halogens?

I haven't picked up a Haynes manual yet, and I'd kind of like to be able to see when I drive at night, so any help would be appreciated.
