Actually, you can only use from 1993+ in regards to the transmission. Here is why:

1988-1990 Sentra (B12, GA16i): cable speedometre
1989-1990 Pulsar NX (KN13, GA16i): cable speedometre
1991-1992 Sentra (B13, GA16DE): cable speedometre
1991-1993 NX1600 (N14, GA16DE): cable speedometre
1993-1994 Sentra (B13, GA16DE): electronic speedometre (speed sensor)
1995-1998 Sentra (B14, GA16DE): electronic speedometre (speed sensor)
1995-1998 200SX (B14, GA16DE): electronic speedometre (speed sensor)

With the exception of the 1993 NX1600 model, all Nissans in 1993 converted to an electronic speed sensor. It has been proven that the cable speed sensor and electronic speed sensor are different lengths, and therefore cannot be interchanged within transmissions. So, get a transmission that is post 1993. This sucks for you post '93 owners because you cannot use the coveted Pulsar NX and NX1600 transmissions with the best gear ratio .
