too bad we can't directly post imiages on the forums, but, here's link to a pic i took, as you can see, i circled where the end of the shift shaft goes into the case, and it seriously chucks around, and the ball and spring fell out of the little hole and were laying in the bottom of the case. Where it goes is just to the right of the red circle, the hole in the shiny disc shift control thinger.
but i can't beleive they would allow something like that to chuck in all directions easily 1/16th of an inch, maybe an 1/8th. a bushing or something goes in there? or is the case worn out? out the back of the case where the shift rod goes into the case (where the booty is) it's very tight and no way near any wear at all. seems like that would wear quicker then way at the other end (where circled) but i may be wrong. hopefully someone will shed some light on this mystery.
there was quite some peices of shavings, but not brass like synchro's, more of a brass like a bushing. is there supposed to be a bushing in there? i've cross checked between an 87 and 94 transaxle exploded views, and can't seem to see one in the diagrams, but, unfortunaly, those are the only 2 years i could get ahold of. 94 from online pdf, and 87 from dealer photocopies, as they only held ontop copies going back to 87. But something fell out somewhere and got all ground up. and it's softer then the gears are.
i'll try and keep my dns active as much as possible (lazy sometimes)
