It's dangerous to have cardboard in front of the radiator, mostly because you might forget about it and blow a headgasket........ The trans cooler is in the radiator, as with almost every other auto trans car, so this could be considered a legit way to warm the trans up faster. I'd recommend it only on the coldest days, though. I'd also recommend only a partial covering, probably about 1/2 the radiator, on the trans cooler side.
