Since it's your first time pulling the starter I'd suggest removing the battery and the intake housing both. With those out of your way it's sooooo much easier to see the bolts needing removed (not to mention easier to reach with common tools).

Thanks for the advice. One final question for component clearity, I assume when you mention "intake housing" you are referring to the everything from the air fileter housing to the throttle body to be removed, am I correct?
