Starting Trouble...

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone might have a clue as to why my KA24DE Engine on my 91 Hardbody has had problems alot recently with flooding. Like recently, I went to put some gas in it, filled her up, got back in, tried to crank and nothing but the sound of the engine turning over but not starting. So I left the blasted thing for the night (after trying to start it with the gas pedal to the floor trick and holding the valve wide open with no success) and came back this morning. It fired right up with no trouble at all. Now if it had been an isolated incident, I'd have marked it as the idiot behind the wheel, but it's done this like six or seven times recently, and it really gets inconviencing when you're 50 miles away from home. Any help or tips on starting a flooded engine (I've heard something about some emergency valve you can open to drain some gas from the engine?) would be GREATLY appreciated.
