I'm not sure what size sockets you'll need, but you just need sockets and a hammer. To get the tie-rod end out just hit the the side of the knuckle where the tie rod end is inserted. do the same with the ball joint.

You can do it with just sockets and a hammer, but a tie rod end "pickle fork" makes life easier. I liked the one we rented from Autozone so much that we just kept it.
