I know I have redone the Pan Gasket. But mine sits alot since I retired the daily driver. I think the cold and then warm eventually wears them out.
You need to really degrease it good. The axel seals in the tranny could go bad also, you never know because tranny fluid in ours looks like Motor oil. If the rear main seal goes, you will have a slipping clutch from the oil slapping around the pressure plate and disc. If it was an Automatic, you will never know. The pan gasket goes because its just the rubber sealant gasket. I used a good grey permatex sealant and followed the directions on the install, clean it really good and the block of all oil, sand the surface slightly and use Acetone to clean the surfaces. The front seal can also run onto and alongthe sill of the pan. Just clean it well and observe. pressure wash all the oil and dirt off.
