You can use a quart of ATF for a full 3,000 miles for some really good cleaning. That's what I do, about once a year.
1 quart regular ATF, 3 quarts oil. It won't hurt it.
But, keep an eye on it. If it turns VERY black before your 3,000 mark, go ahead and change it.
