92 pathfinder 2.7 td (european terrano I)

Hi everybody

Like the title says I own a European version of the Pathfinder, called a Terrano I. It is basically the same as the American version apart from the engine and some minor details.
I'm Portuguese, and live on the Azores Islands.
My main question regards the back door and back window gas lifters (?). I dont really know what is the English technicall term for it, In Portuguese they go by the same name as the shock absorbers, so I'll describe them: - the things that lift and hold up the back door and the back window, 2 per each, 4 in total.
Mine no longer perform their function well, and the new ones, Nissan says will cost me around US$1.200, wich is, by my standarts, way too expensive. I've looked for options but few Pathfinders/Terrano I were sold in Europe so there aren't any afermarket ones. Can you tell me if there are such reasonably priced parts in America?
