I took the 87 pathy out to the river yesterday for a little fun in the mud as a birthday present to myself....it did great as usuall and i only had to get pulled out of the really deep muck...problem is, after we left we stopped at the car wash to clean up..it ran great the whole way there(towing my friends zook on a towbar) then i washed the engine bay out along with the rest of it....then we leave the carwash and its running like crap, missing and sputtering with not even half the power it had....it did this last time i took it out right after i washed it...i figured i got something wet, but after a week it was still the same(should be dry by then) so i started diagnosing all the suggestions some of you fellas gave me to no avail...ended up being a clogged up CAT convertor, i found that out by beating on it with a hammer, something gave loose and the idle went up to normal, then it ran great(aside from a slight exhaust leak) for a couple months up until yesterday...so i figured i had the same issue, and said to hell with it and cut the exhaust off right before the CAT and welded a 20 dollar glass pack on it(all i could afford this time of year) until i can buy the stock muffler...i couldnt get the O2 sensor hooked up due to a lack of room(ill get to that later) now it runs better but has a killer miss to it that wasnt there before....sorry for the long post guys, please throw some opinions at me so i have a direction to start with...thanx....
