Well, the problem is I have a tonneau bedcover, and if I loosen the rails, I'm afraid the weatherstripping will somehow not be so effective when I remove them.

I think you may have to cut holes in the cover and seal it with duct tape. Hope someone comes up with a better idea than mine. If you plan to keep it long, I'd do it.
