Either that or drill holes, which is possible but difficult. There's limited vision when you peep through the tie-down hook hole with a flashlight.

I'm not familiar with your '97 at all, but here's what I did to replace my '04 lenses and what I'll have to do whenever I need to change a bulb. Are your bolts harder to get to than that?
