Weird starting problem

Hi folks,

I'm having problems with my 1993 2.4 M/T Nissan truck and was wondering if any would share their wisdom.

It started a couple months ago when I started the truck up in the garage. When I turned the key a loud, strange sound filled the air. It sounded like the neighbors weed-whipper was in the garage, at full bore. I took the key out of the ignition.....and it kept going for probably .....well, 5 minutes. When it finally stopped the truck was dead. Nothing when you turn the key. I assumed it was the starter motor still engaged but that is just a weak guess.

The next day it started fine and ran fine. However, every now and then when I would go to start it ....it would slowly turn over (like a low battery).

I replaced the battery but it would still slowly crank on occasion. The local dealer looked it and they replaced the starter.

It still does it only more frequently. I re-checked the battery. On cold mornings it barely turns over. Once its started and warm....you turn it off it might start real easily or start like the battery is almost dead.

The dealer said wait till it dies and they will find it. Exactly what I don't want to do. I don't like being stranded in freezing weather.

New battery, new starter, charging system checks fine......Any Ideas?

Thank you for your time.
