Hi all. Newbie here and new to this Pathfinder. Got a great deal on an 88 Pathfinder which is in immaculate shape for the year. I actually just drove it home today.

I tried the 4WD out and followed all of your instructions of how to properly go from 2H to 4h and then to 4L and back again.

I noticed no difference from going from 2H to 4H. I even stopped in the snow, stuck my head out, spun the tires and watched the front tire. It wasn't spinning like the rear but just rolling along. Obviously, 4 wheel wasn't working. My 4WD light was on though. I then tried 4L, the gear ratio obviously changed but still, the front tires were not powered.

It is a manual 5 speed and has automatic hubs. Could the hubs be frozen up or worn out? How difficult are these to take apart and diagnose? I am not sure if the front axles are turning as I would have to jack it up and get under to test. Not able to do that right now...

Any ideas? I bought this as a winter vehicle and need the 4 wheel drive for where I live. I am done getting stuck in my own driveway.
