My Frontier has the sensors inside the tire attached to the valve stems or actually vice versa. I saw them when my
tires were being dismounted for the wheel polish job.

I also have the indicator caps you are talking about. These
were on the truck when I purchased it so I assume they are
part of the low tire pressure warning system.

I'll check with my dealer the next time I am in.

Not sure if the Frontier has this feature, but on the 05 Pathfinders, each rim has a built in indicator to the computer to show when the tire pressure is low.
Like GMC's and Chevy's. but for Pathfinder, if the indicator is low, you have to check each tire because if does not tell you which one is low.
those color indicators, I'm assuming your talking about will tell you each tire pressure.
