Howdy all.
I have a head scratcher here that I need some help on.
2.4L 2WD truck with 235,000 miles on it.
The truck has sat in a side parking lot near my house since October while I was waiting on the owner to supply me with the correct parts. Since then the clutch has felt really soft and has had trouble shifting while the engine is running. While the truck is off it will smoothly change gears. I figured it was a bad slave or master cylinder since the fluid looked like black tar. I flushed out the system and replaced the Master and slave cylinders and the hose. I also bypassed the clutch damper on the firewall and bled the system again. The clutch is still binding up when the engine is running, but at least now I have some great clutch peddle pressure. My theory is the pressure plate is not releasing properly.
So as of now I have the truck jacked up on jack stands at all four corners. I have unbolted the slave cylinder and I am using an adjustable wrench and a ratchet strap to pull the clutch fork all the way back to the rear of the truck.
I start the truck in gear pressing in on the neutral safety switch and the wheels spin.
Am I correct is assuming that the clutch plate, pressure plate and flywheel are somehow bonded together at this point?
