My battery seems to be superglued to the battery tray or something, there isn't a battery strap holding the battery down at all which scared me at first but when I tried to move and pickup the battery but it won't even budge. Do the 98's have some hidden bolt somewhere or a battery strap that can't be seen? I've seen in some pictures of the engines that some people have these long screws that go from what looks to be the tray to the top of the battery at both sides and a battery strap to keep it down, is this a modification? And if so, where do I go to find these "battery strap" screws? I'm also curious if I can go to the strips without the strap, I remember hearing that you aren't allowed on the track unless your battery is properly strapped in, but the superglue or whatever it is seems to be holding much better.
Well,
For B14 (96-99) cars there is one screw on the front of the battery behind the headlight (10mm hex I believe) that holds down a small retainer plate.
yea i just put an optima in te other day.... that bolt can be a bitch...... if you dont have any luck go buy a can of coca cola (original not cherry) and pore it on.... loosened it right up for me!@!
but the good thing is it can be easily moved side to side to allow for better cai piping....and it looks cleaner too, no unsightly battery hold down straps.....
