I was swapping out the fluid in the rear differential of my Fronty this weekend and accidentally dropped a short portion of fuel hose into the differential (I use this hose to help get the new fluid into the differential, I've now made a longer version that can't drop all the way in!). So, off came the cover. When I took it off there was no gasket and no discernible RTV seal either. It was bare metal. Is that typical?
Since it was late and I needed to get the differential back together I put the cover back on without a gasket or RTV (ran out). So far it doesn't appear to be leaking but I think I'm going to put a gasket in anyway for peace of mind. Just thought it was odd that no gasket was there in the first place. Anyone experienced this also?
