Fuel Filter Replacement

Wanted to share my experience changing my fuel filter on my 01 Frontier.
Filter was on the passenger side of the rear cross member facing the front.
It's covered by a metal plate so you need to look for the fuel hoses.
There are four 10mm bolts holding the plate in place and one 10mm nut holding the filter to the plate in the middle.
You need to remove all of these. I don't think my filter has ever been changed (150k) and luckily the bolts all came off no problem.
After the plate comes off you'll see the filter.
I went with a factory filter since the pricing was all similar for aftermarket and OEM.
The filter was held in by two fuel clamps on each side.
Make sure you have a fuel hose tool to help levering the hose off the filter connection. I had a tough time even with the tool. I would also suggest checking the hose to make sure it's in good condition before reinstalling. One side takes just a short length of fuel hose and the other is a custom shaped hose.
Once I got the filter off I could definitely see the crap and crude that has built up over time coming out.
Put everything back together and I swear the truck seems to rev up a bit easier. Could be my imagination but no matter what the filter needed to be changed.
Cheap and relatively easy to do.

This is a maintenance item that is often overlooked, that and the rear diff fluid change.

I had a similar experience to your though I never consider anything "easy" that involves laying down under my truck. I don't know what it is but my neck muscles always ache after anything involving under the truck work.
