replaced alternator belt, starter, battery, and cone filter a few weeks ago. about a week ago i started getting an awful screeching noise, what i assume is the alternator belt. it goes off in reverse, 1st gear, and when shifting into 2nd, but not after into 2nd. when i installed the belt i was worried because i didnt have a belt tensioner, and i still dont have one, and getting any kind of parts is a pain in the ass out where i live. so i guess my question is, is my belt to tight or not tight enough? i thought i got it on well enough, and after letting it run for about ten minutes and cooling i tightened it just a tad bit more. the screeching occurs far more often when the weather is really cold, so that makes me think its too tight, since the cold would make the belt even tighter, right? or am i just a dumbass?
